Embodied Recovery:
Mindful Practices for True Transformation
Recovery is a journey that requires patience, self-compassion, and a willingness to show up for ourselves, day by day. This peer-led group is about exploring ancient wisdom and applying it to our lives in a way that fosters healing. Rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions—these sessions create space for self-inquiry, mindfulness, and personal transformation. Through guided breath work, gentle movement, reflection, and discussion, we reconnect with ourselves and cultivate a deeper sense of peace.
Why Eastern Spiritual Practices in Recovery?
Addiction and trauma leave imprints on both the mind and body. Eastern traditions have long recognized the interconnectedness of thought, action, and suffering, offering practices to help us navigate life with greater awareness and compassion. In each session, we work together to:
- Engage in breath work to calm the nervous system and find steadiness
- Reflect through guided journaling and meaningful discussion
- Explore mindfulness and meditation techniques rooted in tradition
- Cultivate self-compassion and emotional resilience
- Incorporate gentle movement and seated stretches to release stored tension and reconnect with the body
What to Expect
Each session is designed to be gentle, welcoming, and accessible. We follow a rhythm that allows space for whatever comes up, without pressure or expectation:
- Grounding Breath work – A simple, guided breathing practice to settle into the moment.
- Gentle Movement & Seated Stretching – Accessible, mindful movements to release tension and enhance presence.
- Thematic Discussion – Exploring a principle from Yoga, Buddhism, or Jainism to inspire self-reflection.
- Journaling & Sharing (Optional) – A safe space to put thoughts on paper and connect with others.
- Guided Meditation – A practice designed to bring ease, presence, and self-acceptance.
- Closing Reflection – Affirmations and tools to carry mindfulness into daily life.
